Thursday 15 December 2022 - Sunday 30 July 2023
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
In 2013, photographer Lloyd Ramos graduated from university and found himself helping out at his parents’ Filipino/East Asian grocery on Walthamstow High Street. Over the next decade he began to document the daily rhythms of life on Walthamstow Market.
The exhibition at Vestry House Museum will present a selection of his photographs made during free moments while working at the shop over the past ten years. They range from candid scenes, portraits made for the E17 Market Stories exhibit, and a selection from his series Indecisive Moments. Cumulatively the photographs present a multifaceted portrait of Walthamstow Market, exploring the working lives of market traders, bonds formed between them and their customers, and the crucial social and commercial role that the market plays within the local community.
Selections made from Vestry House Museum’s own archive will also be displayed to establish a conversation between past and present, highlighting what is at stake in the future.
Visit the exhibition from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Free entry.
